These checks resolve most problems without changing your source video or image.

01ExportForWeb won’t open

Confirm that your Mac is running macOS 15.0 or later, then move ExportForWeb into the Applications folder and open it again. If macOS says the download is damaged or cannot be verified, delete that copy and download a fresh one from the official ExportForWeb link.

02A video or image can’t be added

Make sure the file has finished downloading to your Mac and is not only a cloud placeholder. Videos can include MOV, MP4, M4V, MKV, WebM, AVI, MPEG, MXF, and common camera formats. Still images can include JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, TIFF, BMP, and WebP. Animated images are not supported yet. Try copying the file to a local folder before dropping it again.

03The export fails or stops

Choose a local destination folder where you have write access and confirm there is enough free disk space. Quit apps that may be using the source file, reopen ExportForWeb, and retry. If it still fails, email the error message and the source file’s extension to support.

04The finished files are missing

Exports are saved in the destination folder selected in ExportForWeb. Check the folder name shown in the app. When a conversion completes, use the Finder action in the result view to reveal the generated WebM, MP4, WebP image, or optional video poster.

05The output is larger than expected

Video size depends on duration, resolution, frame rate, and visual complexity; choose WebM when the smallest practical video is the priority. For images, choose Balanced or Smaller quality to reduce the WebP further. The original source file is never changed.

Send us the details.

Include your macOS version, source format, destination folder, and the exact error text. Please do not attach private videos or images unless we specifically request them.
